With 103 votes, the change in the bag checking system at the Ewha Womans University Library placed second among the original 15 events.
Since 1984, the Ewha Womans University Library had required all students to leave their bags and belongings at the bag storage area on the first floor before entering the second floor or above. The only floors where students could carry their bags with them were the first and underground floors, where the study rooms are located.
Many students had raised complaints regarding this policy, saying that backtracking to the first floor each time or storing their bags even when they are only trying to check something was inconvenient and resulted in time loss.
In response to the students’ voices, the library lifted its bag checking system as of March 2 this year, and instead decided to tighten regulations to prevent potential theft and preserve books.
