As South Korea and the United States are getting ready for the third round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, sectors that were left undecided from the second round are receiving attention. Proponents and opponents of the FTA between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United States (US) are holding a heated debate regarding various issues. Although university students, among others, also possess their own opinions about the FTA between ROK and the US, it is rather difficult to portray their view to the society. Therefore, the Ewha Voice has set out to act as an amplifier to help raise the voices of Ewha students and let them be heard.

Hwang Yoon-jin (English Education, 2) ?I oppose to the FTA between the ROK and US because farmers and numerous people will lose out in the competition accelerated by the FTA.
Kim Young-hyun (International Studies, 1) ?The FTA between ROK and the US is beneficial to South Korean economy because it is estimated that 50,000 new jobs will be created and consumers will have a wider access to a variety of products at a cheaper price. However, certain measures should be provided by the government for those that are at a disadvantage due to the FTA.
Lee Won-hee (Public Administration, 4) ?It is true that farmers and certain groups will be at a disadvantage due to the FTA, but the nation as a whole cannot only consider the positions of these people because it is true that South Korean economy will benefit from the FTA.
Lee Yu-jin (Education, 4) ?Signing an FTA between ROK and the US seems to be inevitable when considering our nation? interest and the current trend of countries liberalizing their markets.
