1,508 Ewha students gathered together for the student general assembly on March 29 in the Welch-Ryang Auditorium. The student general assembly, which was hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA) was held to confirm Ewha students' approval of four proposals: freezing tuition, improving student welfare, guaranteeing autonomy of student activities, and opposing Ewha? structural reorganization plan. It was the first student general assembly to be held since year 2000, with over ten percent quarum of Ewha students.
The general assembly began with SGA president Lee Ji-youn's (Sociology, 4) short briefing on the SGA's protests in March and the latest news on the school administration's reactions. Then, after the speech, the 1,508 Ewha students raised their student identification cards to show firm approval on the four proposals. Students also flashed the lights from their cell phones to declare their intention to participate in a fourth general rally on April 5.
"We confirmed our confidence in the possibility of making changes by getting together in the student general assembly. I hope that our gathering and efforts will not be fruitless," said Lee.
