Ha Eun-mi (Graduate School, Molecular Life Sciences) and Professor Lee Won-jae (Molecular Life Sciences) discovered that when bacteria increase in the intestines, the body uses the Duox enzyme, a bacteria- controlling enzyme, to make active oxygen. Thus the body can sterilize harmful bacteria, paving the way for curing diseases like enteritis.
