Construction to change stone materials of the sidewalk locates between Centennial Museum and International Education Building started from Nov. 15 and was completed on Nov. 26.
Facilities Maintenance enforced the repair work to resolve complaints and enhance safety.
“There was an issue of safety because there were 10cm gaps, which are filled with dirt, between stones that cover the sidewalk,” said Beak Seung-hak, an official of Facilities Maintenance. “The gaps caused difference between the sizes of steps people take and sometimes made pedestrians tumble. The school decided to fix this inconvenience to prevent potential danger.”
Indeed, there have been recurring complaints on the arrangements of the stone materials that covered the side walk.
“I had to walk on the edge of the road to avoid the gaps between the stones which most of the time made me hard to pass,” Choi Ji-hyun (Business, 4) said.
Thus, Facilities Maintenance accepted the students’ requirements and went under construction to improve the condition of the sidewalk.
“We put more stones to the sidewalk so that there are no wide gaps between the stones,” Beak said. “The reset of the pavement will be like the ones on the left side which are closely covered with same sized stones.”
