The Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) and MOFA signed on the agreement with the goal of establishing strategic relationship on Oct. 14.
The agreement seeks to effectively deal with current issues regarding international development cooperation and to enhance both internal and external understanding on various policies of the issue.
Based on the agreement, Ewha and MOFA will focus on improving the results of conferences held with the agendas of international cooperation, expanding internal and external support, understanding the official development assistance (ODA) affairs and policies set by the government and strengthening the status of the nation in the international cooperation sector.
According to the press release from MOFA, the agreement with Ewha was the first case of cooperating with private institution of international cooperation in Korea. Considering the high level of resource pool in Ewha, comprised of professors with expertise in international cooperation and various programs such as education program for government officials in developing countries, MOFA had high regard for Ewha in selecting its counterpart.
“We hope we can find synergy between Ewha and MOFA through the MOU,” said professor Kim Eun-mee, the dean of GSIS. “It will be a new opportunity for our students to further the educational training in the field of development cooperation and actually participate in the activities of the government.”
