Global university ranking of Ewha has also elevated 15 notches from that of last year.
Leiden ranking is the evaluation index provided by Leiden University in the Netherlands. It is considered as an objective and advanced indicator of the quality of research.
The ranking is based on the total number of papers among the top 10 percent of the most-cited research papers published between 2009 and 2012.
This year, the number of the evaluated university has been expanded from 500 to 750 and the academic field has also been specified into seven parts which include Cognitive Sciences, Medical Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Life Sciences, Math Comp Science and Engineering, Natural Sciences, Social Science.
For Ewha this year, the proportion of Ewha’s papers out of the top 10 percent of most frequently citied papers is 10.1 percent, showing a one percent increase compared to the last year.
Accordingly, Ewha ranked first among Korean Universities followed by POSTECH and KAIST. As for the evaluation by field, Ewha also took first place in Medical Sciences and Natural Science.
“Leiden Ranking is significant in a way that it indicates the appropriate direction of university assessment,” said an official from the Office of University Planning and Coordination. “Ewha is planning to broaden the spectrum support that the school provides to students and professors.”
