The Student Service Center (SSC) started umbrella lending service on July 1. Students who do not have their umbrellas on rainy days can borrow one at the SSC office located in room B303 of the Ewha Campus Complex. By Aug. 17, 112 students borrowed umbrellas from the SSC.
Umbrella lending service was created due to the needs of Ewha students. “This lending service aims to improve the quality of student life and make the students satisfied with the SSC by offering them umbrellas when it rains suddenly,” said An Yoon-jin, a faculty member of the SSC.
Students can borrow umbrellas by visiting the SSC’s office during its office hours, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students are allowed to borrow umbrellas after showing their ID card and filling out a form for borrowing service.
Students need to return the borrowed umbrella to the SSC in three days and get their ID cards back. If a student does not take the umbrella back within three days, she cannot use the borrowing service till the one following month. In case of losing or damaging the borrowed umbrella, the student should compensate it.
Students welcome this new lending service of the SSC. “The service is quite useful for rainy days,” Ahn Eun-su (French, 2) said. “I had to buy a new umbrella whenever I forget to bring one from home on rainy days. However I do not have to waste my money anymore.”
