The Ewhain Hanaduigi (Ewha students become one) Soccer Tournament, organized by the student council of the College of Health Sciences, marched off in triumph with an opening ceremony on April 28 at the Ewha Athletics Track. This year, 13 teams from colleges, student clubs and a high school alumnae association of Ewha are to participate in the tournament for the next two weeks. Last year 18 teams signed up for the tournament.

Each soccer match consists of two halves of 15 minutes each with a 10 minute break in the middle. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the soccer tournament.

The Ewha Soccer Tournament is unique in that the games are conducted with two balls where a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 15 players play the game. The College of Social Sciences won last year.

“The Ewhain Hanaduigi is what really unites the Ewha students. Through this event, I hope students can blow off their surmounted stress, as well as harness their mental and physical health,” said Ahn So-yeon (Health Education & Management, 4), the head director of the promotion team in the student council.

Students who want to cheer and be a part of the game can come to the Ewha Athletics Track. At the final match which is scheduled to be held on May 14, the winning team will receive a prize which amount to 200,000 won and the selected MVP will receive a gift certificate worth 50,000 won.

“The College of Social Sciences practiced one month before the game despite the tight schedules and mid-term exams,” said Roh Dal-nim (Social Sciences, 1). “Every player has a firm determination to bring victory this year as well.”
