With recent measures easing COVID-19 restrictions, Ewha In Day returned to campus in full force. On Feb. 18, participants of all ages gathered at the ECC theater. The event was filled with various recreational activities, including a campus tour led by Ewha Campus Leaders.

Ewha In Day allows anyone interested in Ewha Womans University to visit the campus themselves and participate in programs that are designed to help them gain more knowledge about Ewha and everything it has to offer. Ewha Campus Leaders undertake the responsibility of introducing Ewha to the participants. They also lead department-specific tours, providing participants with even more detailed explanations of each department.

In previous years, Ewha In Day had to be held online due to the pandemic. Yet, this year, it finally reclaimed all of its elements and returned to campus. The first 200 people that filled out the online sign-up form were eligible to attend the event. This year’s event included a talk show-style question- and-answer session with the campus leaders.

The department-specific tours consisted of touring campus buildings mainly used by each department. In the case of the College of Liberal Arts, its corresponding tour covered the Ewha- Samsung Education Culture Building, the Ewha-Shinsegae Building, and the Ewha-POSCO Building. After the tour, participants could also learn more about the different areas of studies offered at Ewha through a segment called “About Ewha.” An introduction of each major was given as the participants played a game of bingo with the names of each major. Those who completed the bingo were given souvenirs as prizes.

Participants varied in age groups, including high school students and prospective freshmen. Kim Julia, a parent raising a daughter in high school, came across the event through Ewha’s official Instagram account. Kim decided to participate for her daughter who wishes to enter Ewha in the future. She was impressed by the beautiful view of the campus, which, along with the students, reminded her of memories from when she was a university student.

Moreover, friends attending together were often spotted, including rising high school seniors Park Yenna and Kim Eun-gyo. After first hearing aboutEwha In Day from the Ewha Campus Leader Instagram page, they decided to sign up together. These two friends, with their common desire to enter Ewha someday, hoped to resolve some of the curiosities that they had regarding their dream college.

Other ambitious high school students were sighted as well. Second-year high school student Kwak Jeong-ha chose to attend the event drawn by the campus tour and question-and-answer segment. Kwak wished that by looking around campus and learning more about Ewha, she would gain motivation to strive even harder for academic excellence.

Hong Yoo-jeong, another high school student, has long been interested in Ewha and was searching for an in- person campus tour of Ewha. Hong shared that the “About Ewha” segment was most memorable, for it informed her on the specifics of each department of study.

Behind the event’s fruitful outcomes were Ewha Campus Leaders — the student representatives of Ewha. The Ewha Campus Leaders prepared numerous informative segments in hopes of helping further the participants’ love and interest in Ewha.

Ewha Campus Leader Kim Min revealed that the leaders prioritized informing participants with the latest details about Ewha, noticing a gap within the public due to the lack of in- person events in the past few years. This was the very reason the department-specific tours were devised. They allowed each tour to be more detailed and focused on what each participant was most interested in.

To maximize active audience participation, the Campus Leaders prepared interaction-based activities, including the bingo game and quizzes of interesting facts about Ewha. They made sure that the event’s in-person nature could truly shine through and provide the best experience possible.

“It felt as if the participants and their active engagement completed this year’s Ewha In Day,” Kim expressed.
