Institute of Mathematical Sciences holds foreign scholar invitational lecture

Institute of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Mathetmatics held a lecture under the title of “The Conjecture of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer” at the Ewha-POSCO Building on Nov. 5. Professor John Coates of the University of Cambridge spoke about the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture, an open problem in the field of number theory. Coates is a mathematician known for his work concerning the number theory.
