Following her graduation, Dr. Yoon completed her internship and residency at the Ewha Medical Center and became the first female urology specialist in Korea in 1999.
Urology, a field of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary tract and urogenital system, has long been dominated by male physicians in Korea. Because it is known to the general public as a field that deals primarily with male urinary and reproductive organs, there has been no female urology specialist in Korea before Dr. Yoon in the past 50 years.
Dr. Yoon specializes in women"s urination and genital disorders in particular. She will train interns and residents at the Ewha Medical Center in Mokdong this semester. Dr. Yoon will be assuming her position as assistant professor starting next March.
