The new column of Culture & Trends, "A Moment in Herstory," will take Ewha Voice articles in their original form from decades back and compare them with contrasting aspects of society today.

The first article is from October 12, 1955. The charicature of Audrey Hepburn gives away the nature of the article. Short haircuts were obviously a shock to society back then, but some Ewha students took them in as "convenient" and "easier to handle." Now, half a century later, they are considered part of the norm. It seems as though hairstyles have been one of many ways of bridging differences between men and women. Now, hairstyles are a way of bridging differences between each individual and not just genders.
