The school revised regulations for the new semester to improve the school system reflecting the current practice.
The number of minimum school days required for summer and winter semesters has been reduced from four to three weeks. However, the specific number of days can be shifted on special occasions under the acknowledgment of the president.
Also, special tests will be available for students taking Major Foundation courses who wish to be eligible to register for extra credits. Students can acquire up to 12 extra credits by passing the required test. Previously, only liberal art courses were approved with such tests.
In addition, changes were made in the regulations regarding the curriculum of some colleges as well. The maximum credits that students of College of Medicine can register per semester was adjusted from 21 credits to 24 credits. This change will be applied for those who entered the college from 2017.
College of Pharmacy also reformed a part of its curriculum, which allows its students to take a maximum of 24 credits in the semester when they take “Christianity and the World.”
Meanwhile, the College of Engineering was renamed “ELTEC (Excellence, Leadership, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Convergence) College of Engineering” in relation to its expansion. The ‘E’ for ‘Excellence’ also represents Ewha, while ‘TEC’ expresses its ambition to become a top-ranked engineering institution right alongside Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) and California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
