Yanbian University of Science and Technology (YUST), a school in Jilin, China is the branch school of Yanbian University.
YUST, established to train leaders in China and Northeast Asia for the Pacific Era, was founded in 1992 as the first foreign joint university.
Under the educational principles of truth, peace, and love, 300 faculty and staff members from 13 different countries teach students sincerely and with love in order to produce skilled professional leaders with upright characters.
Following the action principles of creativity cooperation service, the purpose of YUST education is to reach out to the world and be a leader in the coming Northeast Asian era. It works to produce creative, practical, and talented individuals who can be competitive in the international society.
For this purpose, YUST has established relationships with over 100 colleges, research centers, and businesses all over the world, including Korea, the United States, and Germany.
There are nine departments in YUST: Biological & Chemical Engineering; Mechanical, Materials & Automation Engineering; Computer, Electronics & Telecommunications; Architecture & Art; Business; Western Languages; Oriental Languages; Nursing; and General Studies.
If you are an exchange student, there are many extracurricular activities that you can choose from. If you like singing, you can join Joyful Life. If you like dancing, you can join APM. If you want to make friends with Chinese students, you can join Friend.
There is a special organization in YUST, named Campus Integrity Movement (CIM). The CIM movement started in order to help students be aware of their internal conscience calling and become active participants and practitioners of this movement. It hopes students can build up a righteous and honest character so that they will become fresh force for a harmonious Chinese society after they step into society.
YUST is not a big school, but it attracts many professors from Korea and other countries. Professors received doctorate degrees from Seoul National University, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea University, Yonsei University, University of California and other universities around the world.
There are many international students in YUST, including not only Chinese but also foreign students from South Korea, United States, Japan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. For international education, YUST uses Chinese, English, and Korean as the three official languages on campus. Students are encouraged to participate in English, German and Korean immersion courses over the summer semester.
