Annual May festival, or the Daedong Festival, will be held on campus for three days from May 23 to 25.
The theme of this year’s festival is “The Brave Ewhain,” which contains a meaning of pushing through today’s difficulties bravely. The purpose of the festival annually arranged by the Student Government Association (SGA) is to interact with students and become one.
During the Daedong Festival, market stands selling delicious snacks are prepared around many campus buildings by various clubs and student councils from many colleges and departments.
Performances and exhibitions are also held at the grass field next to the Main Gate, and in front of the Student Union Building.
On the first day of the festival, the opening ceremony and the students’ talent show are carried out at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
As a part of the opening, the SGA will make a giant single bowl of Bibimbap (Korean traditional food mixing rice with vegetables) for 1,000 people and share the food with students. For the talent show, students who apply for the show in advance can be on the stage.
On May 24, a quiz program will be provided for students at 3:00 p.m. Quiz questions will cover a variety of fields including nonsense, and 70 to 80 percent of questions will be from a list of expected questions for the quiz program. Students who wish to participate in the program can register on the spot, and they can download the list of expected questions through the SGA’s Web site (htp://www.actingewha.com).
On the last day of the festival, a tug-of-war event will be carried out at the grass field, following the  official closing ceremony.
The SGA members are under discussion on providing an open air pub at the grass field on May 24, the second day of the festival.
