Ewha Womans University Library launched an interlibrary loan service with Seoul National University (SNU) Library on March 2, 2012. As a result, both Ewha and SNU graduate students and faculties are now able to borrow books from each library.
Interlibrary loan service enables graduate students and faculties to borrow books from other academic libraries by making mutual contract.
SNU Library was just added on the present libraries that leads totally six academic libraries. Present libraries include Dongguk University, Hongik University, Korea University, Sogang University and Yonsei University. The SNU Library, unlike the other five academic libraries that are in contract with Ewha, allows students to borrow two books per person for 10 days and the overdue fee is 1,000 won per day.
“Since users can have more access to more books by having increased number of contracts with other universities, we wanted to make a mutual agreement with SNU. Fortunately, the SNU Library asked us for a contract first. We positively reviewed the conditions and had a mutual agreement,” said an official of the circulation desk in Ewha Womans University Library.
“As Ewha graduates and other users can have a wider choice when using the references, we hope satisfaction for library services increases through the agreement,” the official at the library said.
To request the interlibrary loan service, users should first check the availability of the materials through the Ewha Womans University Library Web site. Answers to any questions on the service can be received from the library by calling (02) 3277-4611.
