The Student Government Association (SGA) has furnished free sanitary pads for a number of restrooms in main buildings on campus this fall. Sponsored by the LJH Skin Clinic, the SGA has undertaken this project to provide necessary amenities for students in need.
This service was initiated when the LJH Skin Clinic contacted the SGA, expressing its wish to supply free sanitary pads to Ewha students.
“LJH Skin Clinic has been located in front of Ewha for 17 years, and many of our patients are Ewha students. We undertook this service as an expression of our gratitude for Ewha students’ support,” said Jung Jin, a nurse working for the clinic.
The SGA officially launched the service after a trial run during summer school. It received a total of 10,000 sanitary pads from the LJH Skin Clinic, and the pads are to be provided for students until the end of the term.
Free sanitary pads are placed in the restrooms located on the first and third basement floor of the Ewha Campus Complex, and they can also be found on the first floor restrooms in both the College of Education Building and the Hak-gwan Building. The SGA put additional pads in the first basement and the first floor restrooms of the Ewha Centennial Library and the Ewha-POSCO Building.
Happy to provide this service, however, the SGA also has similar worries and warns against excessive use.
“Please take just one sanitary pad out of consideration for other students who might have an emergency,” said Lee Min-jung (Liberal Arts, 1), the SGA member in charge of the sanitary pads.
