The coming fall will be a turning point for Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) since it is the 200th years of its establishment. Classes will be taught at the spanking new buildings located on the right bank of the Seine, the most recommended place to study foreign languages and cultures along with Humanities and Social Sciences. As a member of the Sorbonne Paris Cité alliance, INALCO offers international students a unique array of teaching programs as well as facilities all around Paris. The new site itself neighbors Paris Diderot University, the Bibliothèque nationale de France and countless cool places along the river bank, which are only a few hops away from famous landmarks in Paris.
How to make the best moments during one’s stay in Paris is really up to one’s own efforts, initiative, and exploration to truly enjoy and experience the vivacious city-life. As there are many students at Ewha who hope to study at France, here is a heads-up. Students will be able to enjoy a Parisian life, experiencing the best out of both worlds - life outside and on campus. Students will be inspired by the cosmopolitan nature of Paris and have horizons of city life broadened. They will also have the opportunity to meet not only students from all over the world, but also French students from various descents. Not only will life in France be exciting, but visiting nearby cities like London, Brussels, and Amsterdam will quench students’ thirst for European culture.
When Korean students enrolled as exchange students at INALCO and feel a little homesick, INALCO’s very own Korean Day should not be missed. It is an annual event held by students from the Korean Studies Department to promote the Korean language and culture. Beware, however, as there will be much fun and videotape foolery involved.
With much encouragement to any Ewha students who are eager to further enrich their academic background in the fields of Languages, Literature, Arts, History, Sociology or even Anthropology, the exchange program between Ewha and INALCO is, by heart, recommended.
