The Student Service Center (SSC) installed four cell phone rechargers on May 23 in its office, located in room B303 of the Ewha Campus Complex (ECC). Ewha students can now recharge their cell phones, not only by using free cell phone rechargers in the lobby of the third basement floor in the ECC, but also at the SSC on the same floor.
Students can recharge their cell phones by visiting the SSC’s office during its office hours, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students are allowed to use the rechargers after showing their student ID card and filling out the form for registering to use the service. Cell phones will be recharged after 30 minutes, and students will need to show their student ID card again to get their phones back.
If a student cannot return to the SSC during the office hours that day, the phone can be retrieved the next day. “It is inconvenient for students who do not prepare their ID cards on that day or cannot visit the SSC during its office hours. They cannot find their phones when they want,” Koo Da-hye (English, 2) said.
The purpose of this new cell phone recharging service is to encourage students to recharge their phones more efficiently and to solve the rotation problem of rechargers installed in the lobby of the ECC.
“Some students often forget and leave their phones in the rechargers for a long time, blocking many other students from recharging their cell phones. After observing the recurrent problem, the SSC decided to install new rechargers in the SSC itself,” said Park Sung-a, a faculty member of the SSC.
Students are satisfied with the new rechargers installed in the SSC. “I think it is a good service in that more students can use the rechargers without waiting. Students who need to recharge their phones can use this service immediately,” Sung Hye-mi (French, 2) said.
