The 2008 Ewhain Hanaduigi (Ewha students become one) Soccer Tournament organized by the student council of the College of Health Sciences began on April 30 at the Ewha Athletics Track. Among the 20 registered teams for this year, 16 are from departments or colleges and four are from school clubs.

The tournament first started 14 years ago by the student council of the College of Health Sciences. “In the year 1995, the student council first thought about holding a sporting event which all Ewha students can enjoy as a celebration for the department’s 50th anniversary. Then, they came up with the idea of having a soccer tournament since soccer is easy to play and many people can participate,” said Jo Eun-young (Physical Education, 3), the head director of the promotion team in the student council.

Ewha’s soccer game has unique rules—two balls are used simultaneously in the game and 12 to 15 members can play on one team. Those teams which passed the first rounds include the College of Business Administration, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Social Sciences, School of Fine Arts, Division of International Studies, Korean Language Education in the College of Education, CCC (Campus Crusade in Christ) and Raonsoul.

The remaining matches including the semi-finals and finals will continue on May 19 and 22 at 5p.m. and 6p.m. at the Ewha Athletics Track. Those who want to cheer and be part of the game can all come to the Ewha Athletics Track, located to the left of the main gate and beside the Ewha UniversityMuseum.
